You are Invited!
Across Europe, democracy is being tested and challenged — from rising authoritarianism to declining trust in institutions. At the same time, people everywhere are standing up, speaking out, and experimenting with new ways to make their voices heard.
.
On Thursday, 19th March, 6:30–8:30pm Central European Time (5:30–7:30pm UK/Irish time), you are invited to take part in a shared experiment: the third online Open Space gathering exploring democracy’s future. This time we want to focus on what this all means for young people, their role, the implications for them and for future generations and what we can do together to ensure young voices are heard. It is a conversation for all generations. We can all work to support the future of democracy.
This gathering is inspired by the original three-day Open Space for Democracy events. Our hope is that these shorter online conversations will spark learning, connection, and momentum — and ultimately encourage longer, in-person Open Space gatherings to emerge in many places across Europe and beyond. The session is a taster of what becomes possible when people come together in an open, participatory format — and a chance to see where such conversations might lead.
.
Our theme is: Protecting and Strengthening Democracy: What does it mean for young people and Future Generations? Using the Open Space format, you will be invited to bring your own questions, concerns, and ideas, and to co-create the agenda together with everyone who shows up. Come with curiosity rather than conclusions — and be prepared to be surprised.
.
You will meet people from across Europe — campaigners, organisers, facilitators, and everyday citizens — all exploring how democratic values can be renewed, not just defended.
.
Join the conversation, share your perspective, and leave with new insights, new energy, and new connections. This is an invitation to learn together — and to see what might grow from it.
.
The conversation is open to all generations. Please encourage young people and those who represent young people to attend to make sure they are well represented!
